Yesterday I heard of how Michael Guglielmucci’s fight with cancer wasn’t real. Today, more emails came through confirming the truth of the news.
It truly is a sad news for the Church, and even more so to the rest of the world. It just goes to show that it doesn’t matter what kind of position we hold nor the level of spiritual maturity in Christ we have grown to become. We can still do wrong and fall short of the glory of God.
Over the past 2 years, Michael’s story has inspired me twice. Even with this new turn of event, it didn’t change the fact that it once did pull me out of darkness into light. Many might cry foul about what he has done. But the truth about Christianity isn’t about condemnation but rather it focus on the redeeming love, grace and forgiveness of God. We never accept the act of sin but at the same time we should never reject the person who sin. Many people have begun to pray for the Guglielmucci’s family. Let us no longer condemn but to forgive & love them just as our Father in heaven would have done so. Leave the past and let restoration take place in the family’s lives.
In my life, many things doesn’t go the way i would like it to be. What i hope to be a time of fun, turns out to be a disaster. What i hope to be a great study decision turns out a truely boring career. What i hope in a relationship seems to be endless chain of rejections. In my mind, i have entertained many “what if” thoughts. What if i have not gone on that trip? What if i have choosen this career path over that? What if i have gone back home instead of staying where i am? What if i have done this in a relationship instead of that? Will things still be the same?
Nevertheless, from non-stop disappointments to unfulfilling dreams and wishes, a greater purpose and plan always seem to be in place. I call it; “A ray of light brighten the end of a gloomy dark path.” There are so many things which is out of our control. So many alternative ways we could have choosen to take. The more we think about it, the more we get ourselves stuck in the never ending chains of depressing thoughts. The truth is that the faster we take control of these thoughts, a free-er person we will be.
We are gifted with emotions which allows us to show love, kindness and compassion. But at the same time, it develops thoughts of fear, anger, insecurities and saddness in us. Therefore, learning the Lord’s path: The Path of Righteousness, will result in maturity and growth.
“I would have love a life according to my plans but i will rather choose one that is pleasing to my Lord.”
In May 3rd 2007, i wrote about a man with 30 fractures in his body, standing in front of his congregation and bravely preached the awesome word of God. His death was set to be within a couple of month. But we all know that our God is a God of great miracles. Today, he still stands – stronger in faith and very much alive in his passion for the one and only Majesty.
Mike Guglielmucci is his name and he wrote the song ”Healer” to tell of his story.
Healer

You hold my every moment
You calm my raging seas
You walk with me through fire
And heal all my disease
I trust in You
I trust in You

I believe You’re my Healer
I believe You are all I need
I believe You’re my Portion
I believe You’re more than enough for me
Jesus You’re all I need
Bridge
Nothing is impossible for You
Nothing is impossible for You
Nothing is impossible for You
You hold my world in Your hands
